Alessio Squassina is a researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics of the Section of Clinical Pharmacology of the University of Cagliari (Italy), where he has been working since 2002. Alessio has a degree in Biology, a PhD in Neuroscience and a specialty in Applied Pharmacology. His research interests are mainly focused on the genetic bases of mood disorders, schizophrenia and related phenotypes.

The group he works with is involved in a productive research on the pharmacogenetic of lithium response in bipolar disorder and is one of the founding groups of the International Consortium on Lithium Genetics (ConLiGen). Alessio has been involved in many local and international educational programs aimed to spreading the knowledge of pharmacogenomics and has been invited to give lectures in national and international meetings. Alessio has also been a principal investigator and co-investigator in both national and international grants.
