‘Rare Genomics : Genomics of Rare Diseases, Rare Cancers & Rare Drug Outcomes’

The 2018 Golden Helix Summer School was successfully organized on September 26-30, 2018 at Syros Island, Greece.

It is fair to conclude that the conference was a great success! Regardless of the very bad weather conditions, over 80 persons from more than 18 countries gave their time and resources to attend and/or lecture in the conference and turn this event into a smoothly running meeting with many very interesting presentations for discussion and networking.

All participants have enjoyed both the scientific as well as the social programme using the opportunity to share their ideas and expertise. We certainly believe that the conference has been all that it was expected to be and all of our attendees have taken the opportunity to make new friends and colleagues in their careers.

Special thanks should be given to those of you that although having registered to come to Syros they could not make it to the island due to the extremely bad weather conditions and the ferry service disruption.

Last but not least, we cordially thank the speakers of the conference who have delivered in the best way all the latest scientific research breakthroughs on Genomics of Rare Diseases from around the world.

Our participants’ presence helped to make this year’s Golden Helix Summer School a success and their enthusiasm and positive spirit helped make our time together both productive and fun.
